Wild fauna is associated to xerophyte coastal vegetation, mangrove-tree and rosewood communities. There we find some endemic daytime butterflies such as Kricogonia cabrerai, Atlantea perezi, both belonging to the Pieridae family; Oarisma bruneri and Holguinia holguin from the Hesperiidae family. Among the arachnids, it is common to spot the endemic scorpion species Microtityus fundorai, and the Centruroides anchorelus. Along the coastal dry vegetation one can find, under the stones, one of the snake species of the zone "majá bobo" (Tropidophis haetianuys), which is no longer than a meter (3,28 ft.)
Bird population is characterized by the presence of the long-tailed sparrow-hawk (Accipiter gundlachi), endangered endemic rapacious species that flies in the northern part of the region.
