The predominant climate of this region is that of tropical grasslands, in which the seasonal influence of continental artic air masses is marked during the winter. Ciego de Ávila is fundamentally subject to the characteristics of tropical climate where the amount of radiation is determining. The mean annual temperature oscillates between 24 and 26° C (75 and 79° F). The province has an uniform pluvial regime for all the inland plain zones ranging from 1200 to 1400 mm (47 to 55 in) a year. Along the coast strips of North and South, annual average rainfall varies from 1000 to 1200 mm (39 to 47 in).
